Transcribe Zoom, Google Meet and Teams meetings without a bot
Many AI note-takers join the call as an extra participant. Some teams prefer not to have that: the host has to admit it, clients notice it, and it is one more name on the screen. A browser extension can do the job without joining anything.
How it works without a bot
The extension records the audio of the browser tab where the meeting is open, using Chrome's own tab-capture feature. The call itself is untouched, so nobody sees a new participant. When you stop, the audio is sent to be transcribed and summarized.
Record a meeting with T-meet in three steps
- 1Join the meeting from your browserOpen Google Meet, or join Zoom or Microsoft Teams from the browser instead of the desktop app.
- 2Press “Start recording”Click the T-meet icon. Include your microphone if you want your own voice in the transcript.
- 3Stop and downloadYou get the transcript with speakers, the summary and the action items, as PDF or Markdown. You can also send the action items to a TPlanner project.
What this approach cannot do
- It does not work with the Zoom or Teams desktop apps, because a Chrome extension cannot capture their audio. You have to join from the browser.
- It is Chrome only (and Chromium browsers that accept Chrome Web Store extensions).
- The result arrives when you stop recording, not line by line during the call.
- You are still responsible for telling participants that you are recording.
Other tools that work without a bot
T-meet is not the only one. Tactiq, for example, also states on its site that no bot joins the call. The difference is in how they work and what you get; see our honest comparison.
Privacy
The audio is processed on the way through and is not stored on the server. Your meeting history stays in your own browser, and you can delete any meeting from the popup.
Is it free?
Yes, there is a permanent free plan with 1.5 hours of transcription per month and no card. The subscription is $9.99 a month for 15 hours.
Does it work with Zoom?
With Zoom in the browser, yes. The Zoom desktop app cannot be recorded from a Chrome extension.
Will participants know?
Nothing new appears in the call, so you should tell them yourself before you record.
Which languages does it handle?
Several, including English and Spanish. The summary is written in the language of the meeting.
